Replaced the original wand that had stopped conducting electricity to the motored attachment. This one works great

Very Helpful Seller and the product exceeded my expectations! thanks

Some reviewers had said that this vacuum part did not fit their Miele vacuum. This worried me, but as soon as I received it, I connected it. It fits my vacuum perfectly! In about ten seconds I went from a broken vacuum cleaner to a fully functioning vacuum. And this without having to pay a repairman. I’d say I am really happy with this purchase!

My wand would always collapse when I tried to vacuum. Buying this wand fixed that problem.

The tip broke off the electric wand (S500 canister) after ten years of service. The original was dark gray plastic, like the tools. The replacement has a stainless steel finish. Fit and finish are fine, and both nonelectric and electric attachments work great. The steel finish will “show” fingerprints similar to steel kitchen appliances. On the plus side, the extension control on the original wand always stuck and required extra force to extend the wand. This replacement wand extends smoothly and easily. Most importantly, it made an existing S5 canister “good as new”, allowing use of all of the attachments and the electric powerhead. Better than $800-900 for a new canister. Should deduct half a star for the steel finish/fingerprints issues, but overall it merits five stars.Note: I saved the old/broken electric wand. While it no longer can accommodate attachments, it still extends (with difficulty) and can be used as a primitive crevice tool for dirty jobs (cobwebs, spilled powders, etc.) when you don’t want to use your new wand or get it dirty. It takes up virtually no space to store, so why not?Update February 2013: I had several issues with debris clogging the wand, requiring me to clear obstructions out of the wand. Upon closer inspection, I learned why: there is an electric cord inside the wand that bunches up and forms a curl when the wand is retracted to a short length. Debris gets caught here and clogs the entire wand interior. When the wand is extended to full length, the extra wire is taut and lies flat against the inner wall of the wand. I saved my old wand, despite the broken-off tip, and do not see the interior wire curled up when the wand is shortened, so the wiring design of the new wand is inferior to that of the original, in that you are likely to get clogs if you operate the wand at its shortest length. Using the wand extended to full length, it’s fine, no clogs, but someone who is short–or who is using it to clean drapes or overhead objects (top of furniture cabinets, ceiling fans, etc) might not find it easy to use in the fully extended position. After experiencing four clogs on one day of use, I now use the wand only fully extended, to force the interior wire taut/flat. I am 5’11”, so the fully extended length is fine for me, but probably wouldn’t be so nice for someone 5’2″. What concerns me here is that new canisters are being delivered with this redesigned wand, and I’m guessing all of the new buyers may have the same clogging issues I am having. and note, the tip of the wand is still plastic, so it can still break off. This is what happened to my old wand: the tip broke off, but the rest of the wand is still in perfect shape ten years after purchase. For those canister owners who bought S5-S6 models in the past decade, if your tip breaks, you’ll have no choice but to buy one of these, unless you can find a used wand on eBay.

My original wand was at least 15 years old and the plastic “catches” on the telescoping wand had become brittle and would no longer keep the wand extended and together. The new one works much better, but I did decide to put a piece of masking tape on the wand to reinforce the catch in place, since I really don’t collapse it anyway. Miele probably should have put in a different material as it seems like that plastic is very thin and easily broken.

I am the proud owner of 2 old very hard working Miele vacuums. They are part of the family and I do not want to replace them with new. I was pleased to find this replacement part for my Miele. I will buy it again if and when #2 needs it.

I wasn’t absolutely positive that buying a $115 part on the Internet was the way to go, but the floor brush attachment had stopped working and I wasn’t about to disassemble things beyond opening the bottomn to look for obstructions. I spent the time while waiting for the part by clearing all the airways and proving everything worked without the old extension. You will see in the attached images the different between old and new parts besides the old one being so worn. It took 15 years to wear out the old one so ($115 / 15 = $7.67 a year) spending this money seemed reasonable if you are confident the rest of the unit will keep going. Our Silver Moon gets quite a bit of use so it seems to be back to full functionality now. (Did I just jinx myself?)You can see in the second photo the dimensional differences and they are slightly different visually and in length. Also, the new version has a slightly wider interior opening because a plastic channe.l at the start of the tube (in first photo) is not in the way in the newer version.Yes, the color doesn’t match the old part, but we put our Miele in the closet when we’re not using it and we’re not looking at the tube when we are.Be safe.

I have had my Miele for 2.5 years now. It is, hands down, the best vacuum I have ever owned and/or used. We have rough stone floors (2nd pic) so the plastic has worn down over time and was unable to securely connect to the bottom brush any longer. The new piece is exactly the same, perfect. The suction on this vacuum is like no other. I am thoroughly satisfied every time I use it!

I had read that some people had bad experience with this and that it was cheap but I would that it was just like my original piece. Was a great fix for a great vacuum.
