We’ve had two nice, old, weathered leather recliners for maybe 20 years, this after buying them at an estate sale, so they could be decades older! Needless to say, they both looked very tired. For years, we considered buying something like this Furniture Clinic Re-Coloring Balm, but hesitated because we wondered if it would actually work — and if it might rub off onto clothes once applied. Finally, I pulled the trigger on this re-coloring balm and the leather protection cream. Once I started applying the balm, my wife and I were stunned with the tangible, observable resurrection of our chairs! Have a look at the photos featuring both chairs and their results. Once dried and buffed (15 minutes at most for each chair), I applied the Furniture Clinic Leather Protection Cream, waited a few minutes, then buffed it with a WHITE cloth to see if any of the maroon re-coloring balm would transfer onto the cloth. Nothing! In summary, we feel as if we’ve received two gorgeous new leather recliners following about half an hour’s application of both products. I can’t comment on how it lasts, but consider this a rave review for first impressions! NOTE: It took only about 10% of the re-coloring balm to do both recliners. Buy and apply with confidence! (Just make sure you pick the appropriate color of re-coloring balm for your application.)

I had an ottoman. I wasn’t sure whether to throw it out or keep it. The rest of the sofa was in good shape however, this product did a great job and restoring the look of it when I tell you, it looks like new I tell you No lie so I did all the pieces of my living room set looks like new and you can sit down on it immediately

Used medium brown and dark brown to get right color. Medium brown has a red tone to it. As you can see leather soaked the color right up, add a little elbow grease for the buffing after and I’m pretty happy with the end results.

Where do I start? Well my furniture is 17 years old, High end leather, but to be honest, like so many of us, I wasn’t one to do reg cleaning and maintenance on it after it got older. The arm rests especially, and the seat cushions had really taken a beating. The leather was rough and starting to show signs of cracking and the leather itself had faded. It looked hideous to me and always covered the cushions with a blanket. My plan was to just buy new furniture as I thought there was no hope in refurbishing the leather or color. Well let me tell you, I came across this product on Amazon, and I thought, what the heck, the reviews looked great, so I thought I would try it. I wish I would have taken photos of before and after, because it HONESTLY looks like the before and after on the label!.. Following the instructions, I cleaned the leather with the Furniture Clinic cleaner, then followed with the Furniture Clinic Conditioner. I used the cleaner on the soiled areas, the arm rests and the cushions, but condtioned the entire seating area. ( the rest of the loveseat leather was still like new as far as suppleness). I then applied the Re-Coloring Balm and OMG, what a transformation. I started on the arm rests, cushions and attached back pillows. I HONESTLY couldn’t believe how it worked!.. The areas that had the worst wear and damage, sucked up the product, This didn’t scare me as I really didn’t have anything to lose if it ended up looking like crap lol. Directions say to let dry for 5 mins and buff… I kept reapplying to the arm rests and seat cushions and each time I reapplied, I could feel the difference in the leather..The rough texture started to disappear and the dark wear look in those areas disappeared!. I left it sit overnite. I woke up this morning and could not believe the difference in the way the loveseat looks and feels!.. The leather is about 90% MORE supple and visibly, it looks incredible!..My husband got up this morning and could not believe the transformation. He said it looked almost new!. I plan on applying the conditioner to the arms and cushions one more time before lightly buffing, and will continue to conditon every other day to really soften up those areas. I can’t stress enough how bad of shape this loveseat was in before and what a transformation this product has made so far!.. The leather is no longer “scratchy and dry looking”.. I will see how this holds up and update this post. JUST a couple of things to note:, The Directions on the coloring do not really say how to apply, so at first I started applying with a cloth, but the cloth absorbs too much of the product, so I used my fingertips and it slid on effortlessly and didn’t need much product at all. You can use rubber gloves but I didn’t, and the color washed right off with soap and water. Yes, rub it in a circular motion and in the areas that are bad, use the wax on wax off motion lol. I used about a half of a jar on the loveseat, so if applied with fingers, it will go a long way!I believe what this product is, is a Tinted conditioner, which makes sense, and a good one. The molecules are obviously small enough to penetrate the leather, so that the tint and the condtioner is absorbed completely. ( that is the MOST important part). I just wish I would have taken before and after photos! I AM ordering more to have on hand for future use!UPDATE: It’s been 2 weeks now and my one and only application. Color still looks great, no scratches thru the color even with the dogs jumping up on the loveseat. Color has NOT rubbed off onto anything.!! After reading alot of negative reviews, I have come to the conclusion that those people have applied the product to something OTHER than REAL leather!. DO THE ABSORBTION TEST BEFORE PURCHASING!. REAL LEATHER WILL absorb the water drop instantly!. anything other than leather will NOT. Those people who have used it on something other than REAL leather, may have a bit of color stain ONTOP of their fabric, but it will NOT absorb. THIS IS WHY it WILL rub off or fade early on.!

I was of course skeptical both of the product description and the positive comments and photos, but I am now a huge believer! Just applied it to a leather chair I recently bought used, and it looks very close to new! Easy to apply, is absorbed quickly and buffs to just the right sheen. I am so impressed!

We had both an oversized leather chair and leather couch that we purchased for a goodly sum back in North Carolina about 15 years ago. Those chairs (brown and beautiful when purchased) slowly started turning light brown, then grey, and just plain ugly.We tried Honey Leather to condition, but what we really needed was to add color, zest, zip and a renewed look to these older chairs. And this product did the trick! Easy to use. Went on smoothly. Covered and changed the color back to almost original. Used some leather softener and conditioner after coloring and the chair and couch are now….honestly….new.Buy it.

  7. J. Richardson

Easy to apply. Restores original color. Does rub off a little after first applied but a “polishing” takes care of that. Worth the money as it saved me buying a new recliner!!

I have 2 great danes and I really didn’t expect it to save my 12 year old sofa. It’s really as easy a wipe it on with the sponges provided let it sit for 10 minutes and wipe off the excess. It matched well and there was more than enough to do my couch and love seat. I don’t leave 5 star reviews often but this worked exactly as they said it would

  9. Robert Kudrycki

I have dark brown couches that the cats have scratched up pretty good. I was either have the coaches refinished or put them in the basement. I had thought of trying to touch up the coaches myself in the past but thought that this was another of those Miracle in a can products that would not work or would work poorly. Much to my surprise this stuff worked great. It did not make the scratches disappear but it made then hardly noticeable. Well worth the $30 investment. The coaches look great. Wish I’d taken pictures before.

OK – I only send reviews when I’m really impressed. I’m IMPRESSED. See the before and after pictures. This product saved an $8000 couch that we were about to let go. I could see having to reapply but really nice results so far.Only recommendation – Be careful to get the color right and don’t leave it on too long.Good luck!
