Two Fishes –
Review of the Miele C2.But first…backstory.I (still) have a Shark Rocket. Used this for 3 years in my home with no pets, just two humans. Mostly tile floors, five small area rugs in the entire house. Using the Shark is back breaking work, I’m exhausted using this cumbersome beast and I have to wear noise cancelling headgear because the noise is ear shattering. I thought at the time, hey, it’s a vacuum, it’s normal and it’s cleaning my home. But it can’t get under the beds, sofa and the rest of the furniture. So I purchased the Roomba i3. Great for getting under all the before mentioned areas, but after having to reboot it 4 plus times and then on the phone with the company why this vacuum will not upload the finished map it just cleaned and being non-responsive and not being able to connect, the iRobot staff reset it to factory settings and it still was non-responsive. So it got boxed and shipped back to it’s maker.So the research began and I got the Meile C2.Yes, I read the manual. Put it together pronto after a quick orientation and began cleaning. The floor brush (for tile and hardwood, which I will use mostly) is almost as wide as a lawnmower. Just kidding. But it’s super wide at 16″ across and the other rug/tile brush is 11+ inches wide. It’s so QUIET on the highest setting compared to my Shark. The wheels on the canister is a dream because it glides across the tile quietly, no tugging, no hauling. This Miele C2 is a workhorse! No upper body workout like the shark, cleaning was effortless. The floor brush pivots and cleaning under the beds, furniture and any small space is a breeze. It’s actually fun! All the rugs were vacuumed using the variable suction dial. Brilliant! I vacuumed the house in record time without being out of breath and my back muscles screaming. I stood in the last room wondering what I missed because I was done so quickly. I love this thing! No really, you have 90 days to test this extraordinary vacuum, take it for a spin. You won’t regret it.
Not So Secret Shopper –
I previously owned two other Miele canister vacuum cleaners. The first one I purchased about 20+ years ago, but I traded it in for a newer model, because the original one was too heavy. I don’t remember what year I traded it.The second one was lighter weight, but I did not like that the tools weren’t stored in the canister itself. It was too cumbersome to have them attached to the wand, and some of the attachments would fall off. I also didn’t like the fact that the air inlet valve kept opening up as I vacuumed because of the way it was positioned on the handle. The other thing that bothered me was that the hose wasn’t flexible enough. It would crimp up, and I somehow found myself stepping on it. I had a combination of hardwood, linoleum, and wall-to-wall carpet in my other house, and I wasn’t that happy with the floor-heads that came with it. I dislike rotating brush heads in general, because of the way hair wraps around them.However, I just now received the Miele Complete C2 Hardwood canister vacuum, and I immediately opened the box and started using it. I am AMAZED! All the design problems with the previous models have been resolved. It is a pleasure to use, and I hate vacuuming. The best thing about it is the XL swivel floor-head that was designed especially for hard surfaces. It’s probably about 16” wide, reducing the amount of swipes it takes to clean the floors. It swivels effortlessly around corners, gets into tight spots, and has a low enough clearance to go under those spring doorstops that are attached to the walls. The house I’m in now has only ceramic tile and LVP, no carpeting. The house is over 2,300 square feet, so it’s a considerable amount of floor to cover, and this vacuum will go a long way to helping me keep things clean. The one gripe I have about this new Miele is that the upholstery brush is longer made with horse hair bristles; they’re now plastic. It also seems like the plastic isn’t quite as thick on the canister lid as my previous models. I could also use an extra foot of cord.Here’s what I like about all the Miele vacuum cleaners I’ve had:- graduated settings for lampshades, low-pile area rugs, and hard surfaces- quiet operation- retractable cord- filtration system means no unpleasant odors- attractive design

When we remodeled our home from carpet to all hardwood floors, I literally OBSESSED over which vacuum to buy to replace the 20 year old Dyson upright that had served me well through several other homes. But the Dyson was heavy and cumbersome for any vacuuming, especially in small areas or under furniture or even the edges of the kitchen floor where the cabinets hung over a bit. Anyway, I needed a a vacuum that was lightweight and wouldn’t scratch my brand new and very expensive floors. I also wanted a vacuum that was cheap, but finally realized that cheap ($200 or so) was not going to work for me, to clean an entire home (all one floor) of hardwood floors. I agonized: reading endless reviews, adding and deleting numerous vacuums to my cart, looking at the displays in stores, talking to the local vacuum store salesperson, and Googling “Best vacuums for hardwood floors.” I knew that I didn’t want a robotic floor vacuum, and I don’t have pets. I noticed that the Miele brand’s much more expensive models ($1,000 plus) had been in the top 5 recommendations of several sites I visited. So, as the dust piled up and I got tired of using a broom, I finally just clicked BUY NOW for this one which better fit my budget. I’m so glad I did.PROS: I’ve used it now for a few months, and so far it seems to meet ALL my needs. It’s lightweight and easy to pull (I’m older so I appreciate this!), with soft wheels that don’t scratch the floors. It’s a canister with a long hose, so I can easily get under furniture without switching utensils, and the wide brush head makes for fewer sweeps, saving a lot of time and energy. The soft bristles of the brush head make it easy to get all the dust and dirt (long story, but we don’t enforce a “no shoes in the house” rule, as some do with their hardwood floors) that accumulates along the edges. It also has varying levels of suction which for me means that the brush head moves easily, doesn’t get stuck on the floor, and I can detach the wand and vacuum my wood blinds/window sills without damaging them. I can also easily adjust up for any dirt that has become trapped in the crevasses between the planks of the hardwood. There is a fairly long cord, retractable, so I can vacuum the entire living space without too many interruptions.CONS: This is definitely NOT a good vacuum for a home with flooring that alternates between hard surfaces (wood/laminate/tile) and rugs or carpet. It easily transitions over thresholds between various hard surfaces, but in my opinion this is not the vacuum if you have carpet or large room rugs. You want to pick the rugs up and shake them out first, obviously, but you can’t do that with carpet or area rugs. Also, while I like the lightweight feature of this particular model as I age, it does mean that the unit feels a bit cheaply made (at least compared to my previous behemoth of a vacuum that is still going strong after 20 years). I can’t attest yet to the durability of the Miele C2, but there are some concerns I have after using it for just a few months: The canister is made of plastic that is pretty thin. The suction hose is also very thin, and it doesn’t attach with a loud, satisfying click into the canister, which makes me wonder if it will last. And this model is NOT bagless; although as least some of the more expensive models are. But I did order a set of replacement bags that was very reasonably priced.All in all, I would highly recommend this vacuum for those with all (or mostly) hardwood floors. If anything changes, I will update this review!

I have purchased a lot of vacuums trying to find the one that I don’t “hate” to use. They’ve either been too heavy, as in the upright ones. Or, too messy to empty. The bag less models are, let’s face it, disgusting to empty. The dust and hair and all the junk that was on your floors, is now airborne as you dump it into a bin or bag. Yuk!I have tried the Hoover whirlwind and, that broke (plastic snaps on dust canister) almost immediately. I fixed it with duct tape (that fixes anything) and continued to use it for over a 2 year period. But, it was amazingly loud and heavy plus, not that easy to maneuver around furniture. Next, the Dyson: it sucks up everything but, again, it’s heavy and loud and, emptying the canister is disgusting. I also had a commercial grade Riccar. An amazing machine with lots of tools and it had a bag that collected all of the yuk that was picked up. That machine lasted for over a decade and then, that too, became too heavy for me to easily manipulate. It still worked and looked good so, I donated it.A long time ago, I had a Kenmore pull along canister vacuum. I loved it and when it finally stopped working properly, mourned it. And, that was when I started buying all of those upright machines thinking I needed a new experience. That was wrong thinking. duh I have now, purchased the Miele C2 with all of the tools. Granted, it doesn’t have the rotating beater-bar tool but, I find that when you have pets and or people in the house with long hair, the fur and hair gets all tangled and wrapped around that tool. I had a vacuum model that had one of those – I spent hours cleaning it off and then reassembling (I am handy like that) the head of the tool because I had to disassemble it to get at the hair wrapped around it preventing it from working properly. I didn’t want that experience anymore. The Miele C2 head has quite enough sucking strength (IMHO) so that it can pick up just about anything on the floor without the beater-bar, hair-catching roller thing.The Miele C2 has many settings. You can dial in via the canister what strength you need to clean a specific object: soft covered furniture, drapes, long shaggy designer area rugs (like in my bathroom near the tub), hardwood floors and, low pile rugs too. It also has a “quiet” mode. I LOVE that. I also love that it follows me as I pull it around and its weight is not all on me to manipulate. The cord is stored in the body of the canister and is quite long enough to do each room and hallway before needing to plug it in elsewhere. The cord also retracts into the machine when you step on the appropriate lever on the canister. The bags make it a snap to clean out and replace. I will pay extra for no more dust and crud in the air as I clean the vacuum cleaner so, the bags are just a part of doing the business of cleaning my house. It also stores the tools on-board under a cover in the canister. No more tools falling off and they are within easy reach. I believe that I’ve found a great replacement to the Kenmore that I had so many years ago.

I have went back and forth about keeping this vacuum. Should I exchange for a power head or keep the turbo powered. I have pets and a friend just gave me a double coated puppy. Will it work good enough on pet hair. I don’t want a compact vac, which this is not. The vac is more air tight then the C1 model but not as much as the C3. It is AMAZING on hardwood, tile and linoleum. It is equally amazing at getting under beds and furniture, keeping in mind my house is all hard surface floors with the exception of two large area rugs and some throw rugs. The SBD285-3 head that comes with the machine does not have a beater brush and can be used on hard floors and rugs. I was not a believer that it would work on my low pile knotted Persian rug. It was hard to maneuver at first, use less sunction and get used to it having a different feel then an upright. It worked fine but I purchased the STB205-3 with the turbo powered beater brush for an additional $100. With the extra purchase this vacuum is still less expensive then other models but no electric powered head.This morning I dropped something that got glitter everywhere on my hardwood floor. Snap the Miele vacuumed up every last piece of glitter in short order. I have a bird that leaves seed and little pieces of plastic everywhere and Miele does better then my old Simplicity upright used to do. The head for hardwood is awesome and picks up dust as well as dirt. But the rugs? I spot washed many areas of my area rug where an old dog has been peeing. I used a power compact cleaner and there was not hair in the dirty water tank, which shows that the vac did an excellent job vacuuming up pet hair. After it dried and before going to bed I dusted the whole carpet and a flat dog bed with baking powder. I used a regular broom to brush it in. This morning for fun I vacuumed half the rug and dog bed with the 285-3 head that came with the machine and half with the turbo powered 205-3 and to my amazement they were equal in how well they cleaned. The 285-3 actually picked up more in the first swipe using a lower power setting. If I was rich I would get a c3 with every option but since I am not rich I am amazed and delighted with this machine. The 3 little attachments that come with the machine are generic but work better then the ones I had on my old upright.My pros: c2 more air tight then c1 model, 3 little attachments are stored inside; I can upgrade to a heap filter; the hose and canister is light weight and easy to maneuver; great price; telescoping handle works seamlessly; places to attach hose and heads works well and is handy; great price; same motor as more expensive models.Con: can never ever be transitioned to a electric head. removing the heads are a tiny bit difficult ; the on/off switch has to be touched just right to work, that is annoying. I hope it isn’t a fault in my machine rather then just a quirk of this model. If you have anything but low pile rugs or have wall to wall carpeting I personally would get a model with a power head.For had surface floors and low pile area rugs this machine is Amazing and good bang for your buck.

I AM BLOWN AWAY BY THIS VACUUM! MIELE WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE? !!! Being a clean freak, and in my 60’s, i’ve had ALOT of vacuum cleaners in my life! Over the years my home had almost all carpeting, and I had some pets. The DYSON ANIMAL was king! Loved it! But had recent major reno to my home and spent over $15k on vinyl flooring on all levels of my home and my Dyson Animal was no longer king. It was a real pain pulling the upright behind me, the hose wasn’t long, and I was worried I was going to scratch my new floors. I dreaded vacuuming and I had lots of it to do every other day! Today my Miele Complete C2 arrived and I AM THRILLED!!!! This vacuum cleaner is off the charts amazing! Beautifully made, sleek, lighter than I expected, the large parquet attachment cut down tremendously on the time spent vacuuming, it was quieter than I expected as well (which is great while Im watching my new grandchild!). I was so impressed with this vacuum, I wrote this review the moment I shut it off! If you have LVP or any other hard surface flooring throughout your home, LOOK NO FURTHER- THIS IS THE ONE TO BUY!

Very quality product! I LOVE the solid-feeling telescoping metal wand. This is really a quality metal wand- the BMW of vacuums wands- definitely quality in proportion to the cost, which is very satisfying. I’d rather spend more if the quality is there. Hose is very flexible, very sturdy- I can lift the whole vac by the hose if I want to. I’m 6 feet tall and the length the wand extends for someone taller than me, which is refreshing to see in a cleaning product. (everything else (steam mop, sponge mops, Swiffer, etc) seems made for shorter folks I love the onboard tool storage. For wood or tile floor the parquet XL tool is awesome. picks up dust, hair. Never sweep or Swiffer ever again! We have just a few area rugs. It takes a little elbow grease to do the rugs manually, but does a very acceptable job, but our hoover upright vac is 5% better on our entryway rugs. I do like the adjustable vac setting. I though this feature would have been superfluous ( who would want less vacuum power ever?) but it really does come in handy to vacuum around objects on a desk or nightstand without sucking up objects you want to keep, like coins, pencils, etc. Also have to dial down suction so I can move head across a rug and not move the rug or have the rug peel back up as I pull the head back.Please note this is NOT a HEPA vac as delivered, but one can VERY easily make it HEPA by buying a Miele HEPA filter, which is what we did. I believe the bags are HEPA also, so double HEPA if you get the air filter also. Vac suction is very powerful, not quite as good as my large Craftsman ShopVac, but not that far off. it will suck up a sock, a shirt, a plastic grocery bag, has enough suction to pick up and move a 4×5 flat entryway rubberized commercial mat, as I noted above.With the Parquet XL tool, nothing is faster for hard floors. Very satisfied, best hard floor vac I’ve every had. Was considering a backpack vacuum, and so glad I didn’t go with that- this seems way more comfortable, easy, versatile. Am considering getting a rolling brush attachment for our area rugs. With this model, do note that the rotating brush attachments are just vacuum powered, not electric powered like some of the much more expensive Miele vac models. I like the compact size and price point of this model. I like that there are many accessories for Miele vacs and local dealers if service is ever needed. This model has the same motor/suction as the most expensive Miele models, some of which are >$1000. Bargain to buy in at this price. only sacrifice is no power brush heads. Definitely would NOT get this model if you have even one room of carpeted floor to do- get a power brush model in that case.

Bought this for use on (surprise) hardwood and engineered hardwood floors with some throw rugs. Use it 1-4 times a day cleaning up after children and pets in a very active household. It is lightweight, maneuverable, much quieter than any other vacuum I’ve owned (Dyson, Shark, Bissell) and easy to use. Has been a game changer at our house – life is much cleaner, and it is easier to mop right after. It is so much quieter and lighter to carry that we vacuum more often than we used to. I was hesitant to get a canister vacuum as I owned one from a competitor before (dyson bagless) and found it annoying to use. The Miele C2 is totally different – it’s awesome.One of my criteria for a good vacuum is the “flashlight test” in which you vacuum as thoroughly as you can, dim the lights, and shine a flashlight beam nearly parallel to and across the floor to illuminate anything that got left behind. Our old bagless vacuum (Shark) left tons of debris behind everywhere, making it seem as if we’d not vacuumed at all. The Miele by contrast leaves almost NOTHING – and by using a bag, it keeps dust from blowing around in the air too. I will note that we borrowed a friends’ C1 before going with this purchase of the C2, and the C1 did not perform as well. In part that may have been due to the hardwood floor adapter received with the C2 which really does work much better than the dual hardwood/rug adapter (also included with the C2) on bare floors.The dual adapter is fine for rugs and carpet, though a little harder to pull back and forth compared to a traditional upright vacuum. I still prefer to use a more traditional rolling vacuum (Shark) on wall-to-wall carpeting – I guess it beats the carpet halfway to death and makes it seem like it did a better job? But still use the Miele half the time now too. The hardwood floor adapter is (duh) not very useful on rugs, though it can get the job done: it can get sand, fine kitty litter, and hairs off rugs just fine if you go slow and lower the power setting.Sole complaint: the cord does not spool out as easily as I’d like and the vacuum has come unplugged a couple of times while I was vacuuming. Not a biggie. Everything else makes up for it. This is a very thoughtfully, logically designed tool.I am a Miele convert. Highly recommend.

After much research when the last Shark started to clog almost as soon as I’d start it up, I decided to go with this vacuum. The reviews on MIeles are the most consistent 5-star. I’m tired of replacing vacuums within a year or two! We have all hardwood & tile floors, with a few area rugs. This is definitely not a vacuum for wall to wall carpet or many area rugs – it’s best for hardwood. The parquet XL head is AMAZING! It swivels in and around furniture easily, with no stress to my hand and wrist. The large, open room that would have me sweaty and sore, and take forever with the upright Shark, takes 10 minutes with this vacuum. Low stress! The head for rugs does the job. The good thing is there’s nothing to clog on either tool – just swipe it off with the end of the hose to get pet hair off – no biggie. We have 3 cats and a medium double-coated long hair dog – and this vacuum is working out great.
